Welcome teachers! This blog has been created with all of you in mind. This blog will hopefully meet the following needs for teachers:
- Providing accessible research on how to take care of ourselves.
- Providing classroom management tips.
- Providing a safe, judgement-free environment where we can ask questions, problem-solve, share wonderful teaching ideas, and learn from one another.
I'd like to further explain bullet point number one. Research shows that the happier we are, the happier the people around us will be as well (Achor). How many times have we found ourselves trying to watch a movie with the family and feeling guilty because we could be grading papers or making a fun lesson plan or typing up ideas for our upcoming RESA? It is time we start putting more time and energy into things that make us happy, and in return, it will make us happier, more productive people (Achor).
Bullet point number two -- classroom management. I know a lot of anxiety and stress for teachers comes from having to manage large rooms filled with children. We shame ourselves when we have a bad day, especially when we go to ask a co-worker if they are suffering from a similar problem, and they answer "no". This blog is to make sure you never feel that way again. If you are having any issue in the classroom, you are NOT alone. This blog is here to give you a connection to others who can help you problem-solve a solution you feel comfortable with.
Finally, bullet point number three. I cannot stress enough that this blog is a safe space. No cruel comments or inconsiderate opinions will be tolerated. We are here to help you become a better version of you. I encourage questions!
If the technology route is not the way for you, we also have in-person meetings throughout the month. If you email me on my listed email here on the blog, I will be happy to share that meeting information with you.
You don't have to be alone any longer. Enjoy a camaraderie with other professionals in education. All grade levels are welcome!
I'm excited to begin this journey with you. Please email me with any questions.
Thank you,
Elise Chandler
